Demigod Powers: "Poseidon (Neptune)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Now, like everyone says, children of the Big Three are powerful. But when I say powerful, I mean children of the sea god, a.k.a. the Earth-shaker. Yes, I believe they are the strongest of all the demigods in the world.

Remember the Tier 1-5 thing? Yeah, that's still happening :)

Hydrokenisis: The power to control water, preferably salt water, according to numerous children of Poseidon. If you develop the power, you can maybe even end up controlling the human body. It is 70% water, after all, and if you master your skills, you will be able to control others to your will. Scary and very powerful. Tier 1.

Healing by Water: Not as powerful, but very useful. Poseidon kids can stand in the water or just touch water and they will of course receive an infinite boost of energy and their wounds will be healed by the water. Useful for everyday Camp (if you know what I mean, *cough* Clarisse *cough*) and in battle as well, and if you can absolutely master it, I'm not sure but some others claim to be able to heal others using the water. Tier 3.

Telepathic Communications (In specific cases): Since Poseidon was the god to make the Horses, he is deemed to be Master of the Horses as well, including water horses, the hippocampi. Children of Poseidon have the power to talk to their siblings underwater and a choice of other underwater mammals. They can also speak to all horse types in the world: no, I don't mean like horse breeds, but regular horses, pegasi, hippocampi, etc. Also, they can talk to dolphins. Tier 4.

Controlling Other Liquids: Although this is very tiring and hard for Poseidon kids to do, they can control other liquids than water. For example, if you have a rive of blood or poison or whatever, you better have a Poseidon kid handy. Multiple would be great. They can control it to somewhat degree, but they're not as skilled in it as controlling salt water (of course). Tier 2.

Storms: Need I need to say more? Poseidon children have a wicked ability to form GIGANTIC HURRICANE SIZE STORMS with a single thought. Wicked, eh? Tier 1.

Water Funnels, Waves, and a map-in-your-head oh my!: Poseidon kids can of course create water tornadoes. Even in the middle of the desert if needed, just provided they have some seashells. They also control the waves of the ocean. They can hold it back and let the energy build up and let loose on a gigantic wave if they choose. Maybe to surf. Also, they have the ability to know exactly where they are, to every exact degree. They also see map lines on the water, sort of like glowing lines. Tier 2.

Earthquakes: Not many children of Poseidon are known to have this power, but they can create earthquakes. Very scary ones, too. I don't need to say more. Tier 1.

Demigod Powers: "Children of Zeus (Jupiter)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

OK, before I say anything, I will say this: this is based completely on my research only. I might not include powers that might show itself. So if you develop a new power, please contact me: brimhallhoon@gmail.com. Oh, and it would be a little helpful if you include who your godly parent is, and what the power is. Thanks guys!

So, for the first Demigod Power section of this series, I will be starting with children of Zeus. He had about 55 demigod children so far, give or take. Well, 55 known ones anyway. He probably has a lot more behind Hera's back. Even though the head count I did in the Underworld weren't so out-in-front-of-Hera either. Anyway, if you are a child of Zeus, you may have one or two of the powers below.

One more thing before I dive into the list: there will be a Power Tier system I will be using, Tier 1 being the highest and Tier 5 being lowest.

Summoning Lightning: Thalia Grace, currently Lieutenant Hunter of Artemis, has proven power to summon lightning strikes. Not as big as Zeus' own master bolts, but still enough to knock out demigods and monsters alike. If you have this ability, you will be drained a bit after many strikes. Very cool. Tier 1 power.

Summoning Wind (Essentially Flying): Not useful against attacks, unless you know you're like chickening out of a fight and need to run away. If you further develop this power, you can go from soft breezes to full-out Superman flying by supporting your weight with the wind. At the max. development of this power, you can support maybe 3 people. Jason Grace, brother of Thalia Grace, a son of Jupiter has proof of this power. This is cool also, but not berry berry whoops, sorry, very cool. Tier 2 power.

Summoning Mini-Storms: This is useful in fights and totally useless in a desert where you are dying of thirst. A Child of Zeus in a very good or urgent mood can actually create storms the size of big thunderstorms. It will rain, yes. And the occasional lightning strike. If you happen to develop this power, this will be very tiring. You'll need lots of water, because you'll feel thirsty. That's why I said it's useless to do this in the desert. Usually, you would need already existing clouds and merge them together and add a bit of your power to it. This is an epic "show-off" power, so I would say Tier 2.

Tornadoes, Winds, and Hurricanes, Oh My!: Children of Zeus, with the help of either a Poseidon child or another son or daughter of Zeus can create mega-destruction forces, like tornadoes, very strong winds, and hurricanes. Who do you think got mad and created Hurricane Katrina? Of course, Drinian was exiled from Camp... sorry, getting off topic. Tier 1, definitely.

(UNSTABLE, UNCONFIRMED) Electrical Power: This is probably untrue (actually, I think it is) but there has been slight rumors, er, rumoring that some very rare children of Zeus have the ability to strike themselves with their lightning power, and then direct the electrical current inside them while it lasts, and make it burst out like an electric eel. Like lightning arcing out of your hands into the very metal armor of a monster. How cool is that? Probably untrue, but still berry berry cool, so Tier 1.

The Mist: "Mortal InSight" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Four of Four)

As you might have guessed, Demigod Powers and the Mist is a long series. The four-part mini series on the Mist is now coming to an end, of course ending with the most confusing part of the Mist. In this part, I will attempt to explain the InSight part of the Mist.

This part of the Mist, what I call InSight, is actually really confusing. Every one I described up to now is some kind of barrier or illusion-maker or makes objects. Well, InSight is the part of the Mist that actually makes mortals see into the "demigod world". It works in different ways. Sometimes it is direct, like the passage in Iliad where Hera removes the Mist from blocking the person's view. Like all Greek and Roman things, it has shifted also. Now, it is not as direct as gods coming and removing the veil. It's more like holes in the barrier. The Mist works against itself, or something like that. It influences authors, namely Rick Riordan, and Hollywood to create InSights into the demigod world. So the Mist tries to block mortals seeing the truth, but at the same time, it's influencing popular things around the world. If popsicles got as popular as Hollywood, I'm SURE the Mist will influence the popsicle to become some kind of binoculars to see monsters. Maybe not, but you get the point.

Some big examples are Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the Heroes of Olympus novel series. Some others include books on Greek mythology, but it isn't as a strong InSight subject as Percy Jackson because that series literally targets us. Modern demigods in the modern world. It's a relief people go pshh and just think that its random characters. Pshh, you just saved about like five million demigods, fangirls.

Well, I guess this is it for the Mist! In the next follow-up of this series, we'll get started on demigod powers of every god that has been known to have children! (I think you can see this will be a very long series)

The Mist: "Illusions, Object, and the Mortal Barrier" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Three of Four)

In this article, I'll be explaining the part which you probably know the most- the property where the Mist covers up monsters and make them blend into the mortal world and where demigods can go snap and cause illusions or make mortals think differently.

I'll start with some examples. Thalia was able to manipulate mortals into thinking that she, along with Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase that they went to that academy during a demigod rescue mission. Also, Percy Jackson's pet hellhound, Mrs. O'Leary, was able to be seen as a poodle one time. Also, Alabaster C. Torrington, a son of Hecate, was able to form a solid Imperial gold sword using the Mist.

The Mist can cause illusions, yes. Like Thalia going snap. You know how I said mortals have auras too? Just not a bold, clear color? Well, people who can manipulate the Mist to some degree can change the aura waves. I know this sounds confusing, and trust me, its supposed to be. I'm having a hard time writing this down on paper. I mean, typing this down on Blogger. Well, think of it this way. We're all computers. And when you cause illusions or make people see or think something, you'r basically editing a Word document or something. Yeah, that's the easiest explanation I can come up with.

Also, the Mist can be used to create solid objects. In a story Son of Magic by Rick Riordan, Alabaster C. Torrington created an Imperial gold sword. Not an illusion, but the real deal. So far, only Hecate and their children are known to master the Mist to this depth. Even children of the Big Three cannot accomplish this, so far. There's another "object forming" of the Mist called Mist Forms. It's when a child of Hecate or the goddess herself create a body made, literally, of Mist.

Lastly, the Mist acts as a natural mortal barrier. It blocks mortals from seeing the "real deal." For example, hellhounds are seen as other dogs, but centaurs and satyrs have to use actual means of disguise. Also, this type of Mist is described in the Iliad. Once, Poseidon poured Mist over Achilles' eyes to protect Aeneas. Also, the passage below shows Athena removing the Mist.

"And I've removed the filter from your eyes,

which covered thew
you'll easilm before, so noy distinguish between gods and men."

Another story where Jason and the Argonauts are traveling to get the Golden Fleece, Hera covers them in Mist so they will not be seen.

Well, this is it! Watch out for the final part on the Mist!

The Mist: "The Shielder" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Two of Four)

Hello demigods! Good to see you again. I know I haven't posted in a while. Traveling makes it hard for me to set up my Online Monster Defenses. Maybe I'll teach you that sometime. OMD. Oh yeah, demigods will love it. Okay, back on topic. So in this article I'll be explaining how the Mist can work and operate as a physical shield as well. Here we go!

The Mist has four properties. In this article, I'll be showing you the second property, the physical part. Last time, I told you how the Mist works as a protective aura shield around you, but you know that's basically magic. Here, we're talking more force field like. Take the barrier around Camp Half-Blood, for example. Since the Mist tolerates demigods, Greek and Roman alike, any mortal with a drop of godly blood will be able to pass through. But to monsters, the barrier acts as a force field of a sort, making it impenetrable. Also, demigods of Hecate will be able to twist and manipulate the Mist to create barriers around a small area even if they're energized enough. Manipulating or using the Mist for demigods can be very tiring. Very few children whom are not children of Hecate can manipulate the Mist, and even so, very little. Take Hazel, a daughter of Pluto, for example. She has mastered the Illusion property of Mist. Some demigods of the eldest gods, Thalia Grace, for example, can also do little Mist manipulation.

Well, this is it for this article! Watch out for Part Three: Illusions!
