Demigod Powers: "Hermes (Mercury)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Welcome to The Demigod Guide, where I show you the ins and outs of the demigod world, Greek or Roman! (Well, mostly Greek. I'm a child of Athena, I'm no fan of Roman scum.) Today, we'll be continuing with the Demigod Powers series by showing you the gifts and abilities of children of Hermes! (Or Mercury)

Picking Locks and Stealing: It's actually more useful then you think. When you're a newbie demigod, and you need supplies to help you get to Camp Half-Blood, and you have no mortal cash on you, you sort of have to steal. I'm not promoting shoplifting, I'm just saying. You do need clothes, food, you know, all the necessities. But practically useless at Camp or in a war. Unless you want to steal the Minotaur's lunch. (Which is you) Tier 4!

Healthy/Fit: Not really a power, but sons (and sometimes daughters) of Hermes are very good athletes and are usually fit. Just because their bodies are made to travel a lot, and fast at it too. Lucky Hermes children are sometimes gifted a clone pair of Hermes' flying shoes, which will allow them to fly at an incredible speed. This is a Tier 5 power.

Persuasion: Of course they're not as good as persuading people as Aphrodite kids, but they're still really good. So keep alert around them! Tier 5.

Well, this isn't much for a post, I know, sorry, but I couldn't find any more powers! Next up, I'll be doing Ares, the god of War!

Author's Note

Hey guys. Well, time blazes past really quickly! As we're nearing 500 views, I want to announce future series for this blog! Also, I want you guys to get interactive and comment!

The next series I will be doing is very short. It'll be called Groups and Clans of the Modern World. It'll be on groups like the Hunters of Artemis, the Amazons, and even Cohorts of the Roman world.

Since we're nearing 500 views, I wanted to do something special. So I was thinking of a special 1-week event on the blog and on the community IDWT (a Percy Jackson role-playing G+ community)! Any ideas? Please comment below or just talk to me on Google+!

AND I ALSO WANT TO SAY, I LOVE YOU GUYS! KEEP ON DREAMIN' :)

Demigod Powers: "Aphrodite (Venus)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Break my heart, and you'll get puh-nished. I don't know what that was. I'm no Apollo kid, I can't write songs. Anyway, today we'll be talking about Aphrodite, the goddess of Love and Beauty! Aphrodite kids don't have a lot of powers. (About three, I think) But it was promised, so it will be given!

Good with Outfits: Aphrodite campers are awesome at choosing outfits for the day. Especially the girls. The boys are more loose and get along with other campers, but Aphrodite campers tend to be their own bunch. Except for some special ones. Tier 5.

Monster-Repellent: Aphrodite children tend to end up to be really famous fashion designers like that Gucci guy and people. Well, some end up to have a knickknack skill of creating Monster-Repellents. IT's a form of spray-able Mist, the kind that humans and demigods don't smell but it's intoxicating and HORRIBLE for monsters. IF you have one in a Mist Spray Can, you don't even need a sword! Just spray it around on your clothes or even on the monster and POOF they're gone! Spray on clothes if you want to repel all monsters or spray it on the monster if you want to watch it suffer. :) Tier 2.

Charmspeak: Charmspeaking is the ability to manipulate others to do your will by just speaking on them. Works very effectively on people who think you're pretty or have a crush on you or whatever, but it's easier for them to fight the effects if they don't you know, like you. Tier 1. (Because you can make monsters burn themselves or demigods do dances)

Well, like I said, it isn't much, but still powerful! Anyway, up next is... drum-roll ... the god of Travelers, Thieves, and Patron of Messengers, the one and only Hermes!

Demigod Powers: "Apollo" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Have you ever heard the saying "Apollo likes children over poems"? Maybe not, because I just came up with it, but it's completely true! There are so MUCH Apollo kids. Anyway... well, Apollo kids can choose from a range of "demigod specialties" since Apollo is the god of the Sun (some say Helios still but EVERYONE knows Helios retired to Godly Acres Retirement place thing like centuries ago) as well as archery and healing [medicine].

Godly Knowledge of Band-Aids and Beyond: Incredibly useful. Apollo kids are VERY good with Band-Aids, antiseptic, anti-fungus, etc. etc. Even demigods have to use human healing methods sometimes. Sometimes. But still, pretty useful if you don't want infections from nasty sword bruises. Tier 5.

You were speeding, Healer: Apollo kids with certain abilities can speed up healing, the POOF! magical way. Most people don't even notice, even the Apollo demigod themselves. But when demigods do know they have the magical ability to heal, they can practice and develop the power into something much greater. For example, you might develop the power into even instant-touch-and-you-heal powers. Or maybe if you're deadly ill, your body might fall into a coma repairing itself magically and when you wake up, the disease, sickness, wound, spear-in-your-throat is gone and you're completely healthy! Tier 2, VERY useful in battle.

Master In Archery: Well, as you may know, all Apollo kids have a talent with bow and arrows, whether you're into archery or not. Useful for newbies demigods and in battle, so Tier 2!

Instrumental Skills: Apollo kids usually get As in instrumental music, music, and choral classes in school. It's because they have a natural knickknack talent for any instrument, the lyre especially, and of course singing and other things. Tier 5. Did you know the lead singer for Imagine Dragons is a demigod of Apollo? Well, maybe not, but the Demigod and Heroes Association (DHA) say otherwise. So do the Camp Half-Blood Organization (CHBO) and Camp Orseyous Course Orthodontist (COCO. Nevermind, that was totally advertising Camp Orseyous' Orthodontist Course.. my bad

Sammy Suns [UNCONFIRMED]: Apparently, some demigods of Apollo can create floating balls of light that feed off of... my research ends there. Floating lights? Sounds a bit.. magical and fantastical, but hey, we're demigods. Can't get more fantastical than that. This would definitely be Tier 2. Would be Tier 1 if they're actually like suns and can be used as an energy source and to you know, burn monsters in battle.

Rhyming Curses: Demigods of Apollo have the ability to curse other humans and demigods, hexing them with the Rhyming Curse. You are forced to rhyme everything all day, for however long the Apollo kids wants you to. The more Apollo kids focus on one kid, the more they hate music, poetry, and especially people who rhyme.

Well, I guess that's it for Apollo! Who should be next? Hmm. I think I'll do Aphrodite to fit in with the As. (Athena, Apollo, you know) See you next time! Septimus Heap xxx

Demigod Powers: "Athena (Minerva)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Now, now, mom. I'm not gonna talk bad. And fine, no Roman talk on your page. OK, MOM! Sorry, I was having an Olympus iMessage chat- wait, awe, gods, I typed the whole thing out on here? Oh well. Sorry. As you may know, my incredibly annoying but VERY WISE mother, Athena, doesn't like Romans. (I don't like pissing her off, hence the sarcastic "very wise". She has nooo idea.) Well, as you might have guessed, I'll be explaining the powers of me and my siblings. We don't have many "magical powers" so to speak, if not at all. But I promised, so here goes..

Very Smart (Like in school and stuff): Well, as you might know, we're VERY smart. Like a LOT. We're walking encyclopedias, dictionaries, libraries all rolled into one. Oh, and a very thick walking Greek mythology book as well. Our brains process things 5x the speed of a normal mortal and of course 10x the speed of some demigods. (Not naming names, but namely Poseidon kids.) This is useful when we still think we're normal and when we're in mortal school. Or in other cases like quickly spitting out everything we know about the monster that's about to attack us to piss off our guide satyrs and occasionally the demigod helper. Tier 5!

War Strategy: Ah, something that's actually useful. Athena is the goddess of Wisdom as well as War, but not anything like Ares and his children. The Ares kind loves battles for blood and sick stuff only, but we Athena kids and Athena only well, we don't like wars but we think a war has to have a specific, good reason. So, naturally, we're the best war-planners. No wonder the Athena side wins Capture-the-Flag often! So, yes, we are children of War, but unlike children of Ares. Tier 3, I think.

[UNCONFIRMED] Brain Waves: Even I do not possess this actually cool-sounding-but-sounds-corny-at-the-same-time power. Apparently, some Athena kids have the power to literally redirect their brain power to give a piercing pain to their enemies. Naturally, the opponents brain involuntarily creates a defense system, so the dumber the enemy (so to speak) the easier it is to create a piercing pain inside their skull. It's even easier if the demigod has been in contact with the enemy. For monsters like the incredibly stupid Minotaur, you don't have to already have met it before to create pain, because it's dumb. The stronger the pain, the more the brain can't control the body. So they may just slump unconscious if it's especially strong. You can even focus into one brain or spread out a really bad, throbbing headache to a trio or give dizziness and headaches to bigger groups. It's pretty cool. Tier 1.

Weaponry: As our mother is a war goddess, similar to children of Ares, you will learn how to use a weapon very quickly. Maybe not as good as archery as Apollo kids, but you'll get the hang of a weapon quickly. Tier 3.

Well, I guess we aren't much, but the powers are pretty cool. And, you have to admit, we still do have the demigod enhancements and the skill for weapons so we're not totally underdogs. Next up, Apollo!

Demigod Powers: "Demeter (Ceres)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Hello again demigods! Yes, good to see you too. Well, the time has begun to start on the other gods and goddesses of the Olympian council. After I'm finished that, I'll of course stretch to the minors. Some include Nemesis, Hypnos, Hecate, etc. etc.

Also, we're nearing 500 reads! And I'm not even at my 20th blog post! Thanks guys! And we have our first Blog Follower! I know it doesn't seem much, but it is for me! And at such an early state of the blog as well!

A "Green Thumb"... Literally: Children of Demeter have a literal green thumb. They have the power to hurry up the growth of plants. More like instant growth. You can occasionally see the decorations the Demeter cabin puts up at Camp for cabin inspections or the yearly Halloween Cabin Dress-Up contest. They can make vines do their clean-up work, wave their hand and make flowers appear, and weave grass baskets with a single thought. Of course, they can fight with their powers too. Demeter children can create shields of a sort with thorns and vines, and they can get vines to attack with them in battle. Tier 2.

Plant Boost-Up: Be careful where you step, it might grow and fep! I really have no idea what that means. Maybe I'm not a son of Athena, I'm not awfully good with poetry. Hmm, I should hire an Apollo kid next time. Anyway, Demeter kids grow plants without them realizing. Wherever they walk, the grass springs up and turns greener! And usually, behind the boys, a trail of pretty flowers grow. When they walk in a field. Which is mostly what Camp is made of. And they wonder why Campers stifle laughter. Tier 5.

Well, that's it. It's not the strongest powers around, but what can you expect? Demeter is the goddess of fertility. Not all demigods are gardeners, I suppose. Next, I'm onto Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom!

Demigod Powers: "Hades (Pluto)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

This is the last "Big Three" Olympian god we're going to talk about. Hades is strong and yes, he is scary. Sometimes his children are brutal (sometimes? pshh, mostly.) like those who led the losing side of World War II and sometimes his children are very warm, surprisingly, like the dead Hunter, Bianca di Angelo. I personally think he's just all sour and stuff because he got the worst of the 3- the sky, the ocean, and the Underworld. I mean, who wants to be banished from Olympus except for one gloomy day and be in charge of dead, useless souls? At least Poseidon rules the ocean and lively mermaids, and has somewhat control over the land (earthquakes). Zeus is just basically grumpy for no reason, causing hurricanes. Anyway, I'll be explaining the powers a child of Hades could have.

Shadow-Traveling: Children of Hades have their own means of transportation. It's almost like teleportation, it just takes a bit longer. You just race into a shadow, and you go through different states of "worlds", such as a quick flash through the Underworld, and for a while through the World of Sleep, the realm of Hypnos. The other worlds are unlisted and unknown. Then they're spit out on wherever they wanted to go. Creatures of the Underworld have this power as well, so if you were too exhausted and you had a pet hellhound, you can shadow-travel with them. But be careful, if you fall off in the Realm of Hypnos, you will get stuck there forever to drool and suck your fingers sleeping. This is a Tier 1 power.

Questioning the Dead: Children of Hades can dig holes, and pour in a drink and a food, and summon spirits. They can fend off spirits until they come across one they want to question. From there, the spirit can take a drink and eat the "alive" food, and they will be able to question the spirit. The spirit cannot lie. This is a Tier 5 power.

Summoning Skeletons: Children of Hades can summon skeleton guards to help them in battle. Also, they are able to summon other skeleton animals, such as skeletal horses. This is a Tier 3 power.

Summoning Spirits: Children of Hades can summon spirits and have them help them. Not many facts are known about this type of necromancy, but I would judge it to be Tier 4.

Killing the Unkillable (Dead): Children of Hades can kill the dead. Skeletons formed from teeth cannot be killed by regular mortals or demigods. This is where Hades children step in. If they're desperate, they can alter the aura of the dead, and make them return to their original state, a.k.a. kill the dead. Tier 2.

Waves of Cold [UNCONFIRMED]: Some claim that they can create a Cold Wave, or a literal magical ripple that causes you to feel frightened, cold, etc., giving the same effects as the crown of Hades. This is not confirmed, but I have a sense it would work like a Panic satyrs and the ceased god Pan can create.

Mummimia! [UNCONFIRMED]: MUMMIMIA! Some claim to be able to summon mummies in Egypt. But no one knows about that place, its suspicious. Weird magic circling that place, it makes me feels really bad inside. Again, unconfirmed, but this would be Tier 3.

Well, this is it for Hades! I'll be doing Demeter next! See you soon!

Demigod Powers: "Poseidon (Neptune)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

Now, like everyone says, children of the Big Three are powerful. But when I say powerful, I mean children of the sea god, a.k.a. the Earth-shaker. Yes, I believe they are the strongest of all the demigods in the world.

Remember the Tier 1-5 thing? Yeah, that's still happening :)

Hydrokenisis: The power to control water, preferably salt water, according to numerous children of Poseidon. If you develop the power, you can maybe even end up controlling the human body. It is 70% water, after all, and if you master your skills, you will be able to control others to your will. Scary and very powerful. Tier 1.

Healing by Water: Not as powerful, but very useful. Poseidon kids can stand in the water or just touch water and they will of course receive an infinite boost of energy and their wounds will be healed by the water. Useful for everyday Camp (if you know what I mean, *cough* Clarisse *cough*) and in battle as well, and if you can absolutely master it, I'm not sure but some others claim to be able to heal others using the water. Tier 3.

Telepathic Communications (In specific cases): Since Poseidon was the god to make the Horses, he is deemed to be Master of the Horses as well, including water horses, the hippocampi. Children of Poseidon have the power to talk to their siblings underwater and a choice of other underwater mammals. They can also speak to all horse types in the world: no, I don't mean like horse breeds, but regular horses, pegasi, hippocampi, etc. Also, they can talk to dolphins. Tier 4.

Controlling Other Liquids: Although this is very tiring and hard for Poseidon kids to do, they can control other liquids than water. For example, if you have a rive of blood or poison or whatever, you better have a Poseidon kid handy. Multiple would be great. They can control it to somewhat degree, but they're not as skilled in it as controlling salt water (of course). Tier 2.

Storms: Need I need to say more? Poseidon children have a wicked ability to form GIGANTIC HURRICANE SIZE STORMS with a single thought. Wicked, eh? Tier 1.

Water Funnels, Waves, and a map-in-your-head oh my!: Poseidon kids can of course create water tornadoes. Even in the middle of the desert if needed, just provided they have some seashells. They also control the waves of the ocean. They can hold it back and let the energy build up and let loose on a gigantic wave if they choose. Maybe to surf. Also, they have the ability to know exactly where they are, to every exact degree. They also see map lines on the water, sort of like glowing lines. Tier 2.

Earthquakes: Not many children of Poseidon are known to have this power, but they can create earthquakes. Very scary ones, too. I don't need to say more. Tier 1.

Demigod Powers: "Children of Zeus (Jupiter)" - Demigod Powers and the Mist

OK, before I say anything, I will say this: this is based completely on my research only. I might not include powers that might show itself. So if you develop a new power, please contact me: brimhallhoon@gmail.com. Oh, and it would be a little helpful if you include who your godly parent is, and what the power is. Thanks guys!

So, for the first Demigod Power section of this series, I will be starting with children of Zeus. He had about 55 demigod children so far, give or take. Well, 55 known ones anyway. He probably has a lot more behind Hera's back. Even though the head count I did in the Underworld weren't so out-in-front-of-Hera either. Anyway, if you are a child of Zeus, you may have one or two of the powers below.

One more thing before I dive into the list: there will be a Power Tier system I will be using, Tier 1 being the highest and Tier 5 being lowest.

Summoning Lightning: Thalia Grace, currently Lieutenant Hunter of Artemis, has proven power to summon lightning strikes. Not as big as Zeus' own master bolts, but still enough to knock out demigods and monsters alike. If you have this ability, you will be drained a bit after many strikes. Very cool. Tier 1 power.

Summoning Wind (Essentially Flying): Not useful against attacks, unless you know you're like chickening out of a fight and need to run away. If you further develop this power, you can go from soft breezes to full-out Superman flying by supporting your weight with the wind. At the max. development of this power, you can support maybe 3 people. Jason Grace, brother of Thalia Grace, a son of Jupiter has proof of this power. This is cool also, but not berry berry whoops, sorry, very cool. Tier 2 power.

Summoning Mini-Storms: This is useful in fights and totally useless in a desert where you are dying of thirst. A Child of Zeus in a very good or urgent mood can actually create storms the size of big thunderstorms. It will rain, yes. And the occasional lightning strike. If you happen to develop this power, this will be very tiring. You'll need lots of water, because you'll feel thirsty. That's why I said it's useless to do this in the desert. Usually, you would need already existing clouds and merge them together and add a bit of your power to it. This is an epic "show-off" power, so I would say Tier 2.

Tornadoes, Winds, and Hurricanes, Oh My!: Children of Zeus, with the help of either a Poseidon child or another son or daughter of Zeus can create mega-destruction forces, like tornadoes, very strong winds, and hurricanes. Who do you think got mad and created Hurricane Katrina? Of course, Drinian was exiled from Camp... sorry, getting off topic. Tier 1, definitely.

(UNSTABLE, UNCONFIRMED) Electrical Power: This is probably untrue (actually, I think it is) but there has been slight rumors, er, rumoring that some very rare children of Zeus have the ability to strike themselves with their lightning power, and then direct the electrical current inside them while it lasts, and make it burst out like an electric eel. Like lightning arcing out of your hands into the very metal armor of a monster. How cool is that? Probably untrue, but still berry berry cool, so Tier 1.

The Mist: "Mortal InSight" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Four of Four)

As you might have guessed, Demigod Powers and the Mist is a long series. The four-part mini series on the Mist is now coming to an end, of course ending with the most confusing part of the Mist. In this part, I will attempt to explain the InSight part of the Mist.

This part of the Mist, what I call InSight, is actually really confusing. Every one I described up to now is some kind of barrier or illusion-maker or makes objects. Well, InSight is the part of the Mist that actually makes mortals see into the "demigod world". It works in different ways. Sometimes it is direct, like the passage in Iliad where Hera removes the Mist from blocking the person's view. Like all Greek and Roman things, it has shifted also. Now, it is not as direct as gods coming and removing the veil. It's more like holes in the barrier. The Mist works against itself, or something like that. It influences authors, namely Rick Riordan, and Hollywood to create InSights into the demigod world. So the Mist tries to block mortals seeing the truth, but at the same time, it's influencing popular things around the world. If popsicles got as popular as Hollywood, I'm SURE the Mist will influence the popsicle to become some kind of binoculars to see monsters. Maybe not, but you get the point.

Some big examples are Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the Heroes of Olympus novel series. Some others include books on Greek mythology, but it isn't as a strong InSight subject as Percy Jackson because that series literally targets us. Modern demigods in the modern world. It's a relief people go pshh and just think that its random characters. Pshh, you just saved about like five million demigods, fangirls.

Well, I guess this is it for the Mist! In the next follow-up of this series, we'll get started on demigod powers of every god that has been known to have children! (I think you can see this will be a very long series)

The Mist: "Illusions, Object, and the Mortal Barrier" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Three of Four)

In this article, I'll be explaining the part which you probably know the most- the property where the Mist covers up monsters and make them blend into the mortal world and where demigods can go snap and cause illusions or make mortals think differently.

I'll start with some examples. Thalia was able to manipulate mortals into thinking that she, along with Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase that they went to that academy during a demigod rescue mission. Also, Percy Jackson's pet hellhound, Mrs. O'Leary, was able to be seen as a poodle one time. Also, Alabaster C. Torrington, a son of Hecate, was able to form a solid Imperial gold sword using the Mist.

The Mist can cause illusions, yes. Like Thalia going snap. You know how I said mortals have auras too? Just not a bold, clear color? Well, people who can manipulate the Mist to some degree can change the aura waves. I know this sounds confusing, and trust me, its supposed to be. I'm having a hard time writing this down on paper. I mean, typing this down on Blogger. Well, think of it this way. We're all computers. And when you cause illusions or make people see or think something, you'r basically editing a Word document or something. Yeah, that's the easiest explanation I can come up with.

Also, the Mist can be used to create solid objects. In a story Son of Magic by Rick Riordan, Alabaster C. Torrington created an Imperial gold sword. Not an illusion, but the real deal. So far, only Hecate and their children are known to master the Mist to this depth. Even children of the Big Three cannot accomplish this, so far. There's another "object forming" of the Mist called Mist Forms. It's when a child of Hecate or the goddess herself create a body made, literally, of Mist.

Lastly, the Mist acts as a natural mortal barrier. It blocks mortals from seeing the "real deal." For example, hellhounds are seen as other dogs, but centaurs and satyrs have to use actual means of disguise. Also, this type of Mist is described in the Iliad. Once, Poseidon poured Mist over Achilles' eyes to protect Aeneas. Also, the passage below shows Athena removing the Mist.

"And I've removed the filter from your eyes,

which covered thew
you'll easilm before, so noy distinguish between gods and men."

Another story where Jason and the Argonauts are traveling to get the Golden Fleece, Hera covers them in Mist so they will not be seen.

Well, this is it! Watch out for the final part on the Mist!

The Mist: "The Shielder" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part Two of Four)

Hello demigods! Good to see you again. I know I haven't posted in a while. Traveling makes it hard for me to set up my Online Monster Defenses. Maybe I'll teach you that sometime. OMD. Oh yeah, demigods will love it. Okay, back on topic. So in this article I'll be explaining how the Mist can work and operate as a physical shield as well. Here we go!

The Mist has four properties. In this article, I'll be showing you the second property, the physical part. Last time, I told you how the Mist works as a protective aura shield around you, but you know that's basically magic. Here, we're talking more force field like. Take the barrier around Camp Half-Blood, for example. Since the Mist tolerates demigods, Greek and Roman alike, any mortal with a drop of godly blood will be able to pass through. But to monsters, the barrier acts as a force field of a sort, making it impenetrable. Also, demigods of Hecate will be able to twist and manipulate the Mist to create barriers around a small area even if they're energized enough. Manipulating or using the Mist for demigods can be very tiring. Very few children whom are not children of Hecate can manipulate the Mist, and even so, very little. Take Hazel, a daughter of Pluto, for example. She has mastered the Illusion property of Mist. Some demigods of the eldest gods, Thalia Grace, for example, can also do little Mist manipulation.

Well, this is it for this article! Watch out for Part Three: Illusions!

The Mist "Puberty Barrier" - Demigod Powers and the Mist (Part One of Four)

Hello again, demigods! Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but I thought you would get to Camp in the meantime, and I was helping out a few demigods and killing some monsters. Anyway, welcome to the new series Demigod Powers and the Mist. For the first few articles, I'll just be explaining the Mist, since there are so many properties of the Mist. For today, we will be discussing the part where the Mist acts as your private barrier, as briefly explained in the first series, Article Three.

Well, like I said, this thing, "Puberty", is I guess an "actual thing", but only for mortals. Mortals think that puberty is when your body and mind is maturing, and that is partially true. Only for mortals, however. For demigods, there's a private barrier of magic wrapped around you, keeping the godly side in. Think of it like this: there's layers over layers that "protect" you. Well, let's see. You have your own demigod aura, and some special kids can manipulate the Mist to see the auras of others. Mortals will usually result in just mixed colors, such as dirty and light brown mixed colors, etc. Demigods usually have solid colors. Ares kids usually have red, Poseidon green, Zeus blue, etc. When you're born, the Mist immediately wraps around you covering your aura up. The aura is the "godly part" of you. Your aura is the thing that changes, and makes you grow, etc. Well, as you get older, your aura starts appearing, because it's becoming stronger and stronger, and it starts to claw and break down the Mist barrier inside out. So as you grow, your aura shows more of itself, and that is what is called the process of puberty. You get taller, you get stronger, your mind becomes more mature, etc. Basically, the Mist reins your powers in and keeps it in control, but once the Mist barrier breaks, the aura will show itself at the brightest. That's why the older demigod you are, the easier monsters are attracted to you, because you will become like a beacon. You'll shine into the magical world, sending ripples all over the world.

Well, thanks for reading the Mist article on your personal barrier and puberty! There's still 3 more parts to come, so watch out!

Nectar and Ambrosia Covers - Living the Half-Blood Life (4)

OK, sorry, but this is the last post of this current series, Living the Half-Blood Life. It will probably come back later, though.

So to make this special, since this series was so short, I wanted to make it extra interesting, but I couldn't come up with anything. So this was supposed to be in the series The Heavenly Stuff, but oh well, they'll be others in that series.

Basically, to an "exposed" demigod [a demigod that has been exposed to the world of mythology and has thinned or broken their private Mist barrier, more explained in the next series], nectar and ambrosia would be pure, or maybe in some participating coffee shops (sorry ladies, Starbucks tends to, like, you know, not support original stuff like demigods, who are totally normal..) you can get shots of nectar in your coffee or hot chocolate. You know what they say, "If you haven't had, you haven't lived." But, there has to be a solution for demigods who think they are regular mortals to consume nectar and ambrosia without knowing. Well, there is. Nectar is usually hidden in many honey products, but so little even mortals won't burn up. But enough for a non-exposed demigod. It's also contained in orange, grape, and other juices that sort of has a glowing hue to it. Ambrosia is usually mixed in with food that your mortal mom or dad might cook, but not eat a bite of it, claiming to be allergic. Same with the mixed nectar. You know that one food or snack that you crave for every single day? Like the ones that you MUST have, or else your mouth is just gonna fill with your saliva by just thinking of it? If it is so good, you might even call it heavenly. And that, my friends, is no lie.

I'll just explain a bit about the two godly foods, but I don't want to spoil too much for the planned series. Nectar is golden, and some say it literally looks like the sun itself created it. Well, the "history" to it is partially true. Nectar is a godly drink, but also something sweet found in flowers that attracts bees. Who knows which was named after which, but it's true. Ambrosia can be in many forms. Actual loves of bread, or in forms of cookies, or little squares of whatever-you-don't-know-what-this-is, etc. It heals you. Nectar mostly gives you strength, but it can work to heal as well, when poured over a wound.

Well, this is it for the series Living the Half-Blood Life, I hope you enjoyed it!

Good Cover, Uncle Rick - Living the Half-Blood Life (3)

Demigods have been exposed to the real world. Don't panic, it was pretty clever of good ol' Rick Riordan. He wrote it as a novel series, and it's becoming pretty popular. And recently, I've discovered something on a social networking program called Google Plus. It's called "role playing", as fake demigods put it. They create communities where they "role play" as demigods! Like: "I stand up Come on! Fight me!" It's pretty fascinating, really. I especially like a community named IDWT, the peeps are really nice. Anyway, back to Uncle Rick. He started off with the first book, The Lightning Thief. I do not know how he came to discover our secret world, but now there is a huge hole in our Mist barrier. Readers are exploring our world through the eyes of many characters, including Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is actually a demigod from about a decade ago, but in the novels, he is a modern demigod who goes on Quests. Millions of people all across the world have access to our world. And the Mist can do nothing. They explore our world through words, and the Mist has no power against words. They also explore our world through movies, and we have no power against it. This is good, as this sparks up and Stirs more demigods, but I'm just sending out a message. Be careful, everyone.

Uncle Rick, if you're reading this, this is a compliment. Your work is almost all true, except maybe the demigods. Just please, don't reveal our world to much.

~Hoon, and the rest of the Demigod World.

Stirrings - Living the Half-Blood Life (2)

Remember the thing called Stirrings I mentioned in my first ever post on this blog? Well, I'll expand more about this and how this came to be. Basically, a Stirring is a feeling you get when you read or experience something that has to do with your demigod senses. Normal humans have 5 senses. Sight, touch, smell, taste, feel. Well, demigods have six. It's hard to explain, so we'll just call it the Sense. Anyway, the Sense is just your demigod core. Without it, you wouldn't be a proper demigod. As you might already know, there is a second Camp. It was established much, much later than Camp Half-Blood, and it is usually for Romans. I don't like Romans much, but they need to live too, so a camp was established for them. Anyway, the Sense is a feeling you get. It's usually different. The first sign of your Sense kicking in is during the Stirring. You might feel hunger. Or a sudden tugging feeling at you to steal. Or maybe drink wine, or stab the wall with your finger. Whatever. The first Stirring occurs when you first read, or experience something demigod-ish, like I said. Some demigods, if they are children of lesser, or, erm, minor gods, may not feel anything sometimes. A usual second sign is just knowing things. Like how to survive in a forest. How to fight a monster. Percy Jackson's second sign of his Sense kicked in when he killed the Minotaur. Rick Riordan tries to explain it as pure adrenaline charged by the urge of protecting his mother, but really, it was his Sense guiding him. Another sign might be just a tugging feeling when you get near one of the Camps. The Sense also "teaches" you and guides you to activate your demigod power! No demigod would know how to control water, grow vines, or just merely attack without their sixth Sense!

~Hoon.

P.S. This series, Living the Half-Blood Life, will be really short. Maybe 3-4 more posts, and we'll move on to Demigod Powers and the Mist!

Camp Heritage - Living the Half-Blood Life (1)

Hmm, let's see. Not like I'm immortal or anything, but I do have access to Olympus' vast Athenian Library of Reading, so I will try to explain who, what, when, where, and how Camp Half-Blood came to be.

Well, let's see, Who is first. Well, it was a peaceful day on July 4th, 1776. Yes, that is the date when great ol' America was founded. That is also the day when Camp Half-Blood was founded. No one knows who found the Camp for sure, but possible suspects are Chiron or another demigod hero from back then. Second, What. Well, Camp Half-Blood is the only safe haven for Greek demigods. It has been far known that Roman demigods do exist, but Camp Half-Blood is mainly for Greek demigods. The Golden Fleece protects the Camp from attacking monsters, and Peleus the dragon protects the Fleece from stealing demigods and/or monsters. Third, When. Well, like I said, July 4th, 1776 was the day Camp Half-Blood was founded. Of course, it wasn't until about a month later that construction was finished, satyrs were gathered from around the country, and that the Camp started actively sending recruit teams. The first demigod entered Camp on August 13th, 1776. Back then, there was no magical border, nor a magical Fleece to protect Camp, so all they could do was defend the Camp themselves. Fourth, Where. Well, Camp Half-Blood was and still is located on Long Island Sound. The exact address is:

Delphi Strawberries Co. (Camp Half-Blood), Half-Blood Hill, Farm Road 3.141
Long Island, New York 11954

Last but not least, How. Well, before Camp Half-Blood, America was not the center of Olympus. Olympus didn't exist, but when America was founded, Olympus moved to America. Then the demigod "breeding" began. George Washington, a Son of Athena, was the most famous demigod to survive outside Camp. Camp was formed because many demigods were dying. These new generation of demigods had no weapons, nor skill except some Ares kids, and where power goes, monsters go.

Well, this was the Camp Half-Blood Heritage, I hope you learned more facts about Camp!

P.S. In this new series, Living the Half-Blood Life, I will be doing all sorts of cool stuff I can't fit into other series, so watch out for some random but cool (in my opinion) stuff!

Last post for this series! - Getting to Camp Half-Blood (8)

Unfortunately, this is where I will be parting with this series, called Getting to Camp Half-Blood, if you haven't noticed. Like I said previously, the farther you are from Long Island, the more you have to repeat the steps in 1-7 of the series. Read this only when you get to Manhattan. Yes, Manhattan. Remember how I said human smell so strong like in a crowd can cover up even a demigod smell? Well, NYC is a big city. The closer you get to Camp Half-Blood, the more and more monsters you will occur. But wherever you go, do NOT go to Brooklyn. There are things worse than you will ever imagine. You might even stumble upon non-Greek animals and monsters. That is because- never-mind, you don't need to know that much. Anyway, go to Manhattan. Stay for a while. Maybe 3-4 hours. Look around, peek in at Times Square, say hello to the Statue of Liberty (made after the goddess, Athena), etc. etc. There's lots to do! Well, after you go on a sightseeing tour thingy, you have to move. If you managed to find a shop and buy a Hecate charm, you are lucky. But you probably didn't, so the human smell can only mask demigod aura for so long. You have to hurry. The easiest way is to see if there are any trucks marked "DELPHI STRAWBERRY FARMS" delivering strawberries. That's the cover up name for Camp Half-Blood to earn some money. If there are people that make you slightly dizzy when you concentrate on them, it's because they aren't people, and the Mist is trying to obscure that fact from you. Once you discover more mythological things in the real world, the Mist barrier will start to weaken, and you will start being sucked into the world of Greek Mythology. You probably aren't at that stage yet, though. Anyway, if you find a truck, and say that you're a demigod, the "human" will immediately take you to Camp Half-Blood.

Otherwise, it might be a bit tough. You'll have to wander around Long Island Sound, until you stumble across a hill with a huge pine tree that just sticks out like a beacon to you. It's not extra-tall, or extra-green, it'll just attract you. This is the step where you forget every blog you read, every book you've read, everything you think you know about survival skills- now is the time to just purely follow your automatic demigod senses. It will lead you over the hill, past the Beacon Tree- which the actual name is Thalia's Tree, and it will lead you to a set of Greek columns. Beyond, you see nothing but a quiet farm where farmers are picking strawberries. But once you step in, the real world fades from your memory. You see a beautiful Camp, full of life, as Apollo archers fly around on chariots, laughing as they shoot arrows right next to the screaming Aphrodite kids, who put on makeup and try out clothes, who run to... Chiron. A centaur, a half-horse half-man. Welcome to Camp, demigod.

A big big big big big second day! Not really, more chores.- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (7)

WAKEY WAKEY! MORNING IS HERE!!! AND OH LOOK, GUESS WHO WAS NICE ENOUGH TO SEND YOU A DEMIGOD PACK?! ME!! Okay, I'm over that now, but there's your first every Demigod Pack! It'll have a celestrial bronze dagger, a small celestrial bronze pocket knife- with all sorts of things! Little knife, scissors, among all kinds of thingy thing things. You'll also see that we packed a bag of Lays potato chips (to munch on while you do your incredibly long list of chores for today :) ), some gummy bears, a small bag of Hershey Kisses, and a tiny bottle of nectar, and a Ziploc bag with cubes of ambrosia.

So, here's what we have to do today. Basically, the farther you are, the more you have to repeat the steps. This is the end of the circulation-things-you-have-to-repeat-posts. Basically, you do the same thing up to now until you reach the Great State of New York. The next post will actually involve now finding and entering Camp Half-Blood, and the first Blog series will be over! I can't believe this went by so quick!

Anyway, we're going into the city today. Have internet? Well, look for the closest city possible. You'll probably be bursting with demigod smell by now, not being mixed in with mortals. So consider this a shopping break (shopping for supplies, of course, but whatever) plus a way to smudge your demigod scent with human smell.

Once you get into the city, your first step is to stick your head up the most disgusting smelling armpit ever. No, just kidding! I'm laughing just imagining young demigods like you doing that to a stranger and them.. okay, sorry, off topic again. Anyway, try to visit a mall. The mall is probably the closest thing to a mob crowd, and human fear and rush smell is the strongest. Maybe I'll explain human scents in a later series. Hmm, how about The Smelly Human Armpit and Other Smells? Anyway, just go in and out of a crowd. But- there is a limit to what you have to buy. We did pack you some US dollars, probably a lot, since it's your first pack, maybe $500-600. You have to buy some clothes, and burn your old ones. Also, look for a shop named the Glowing Necklace. Those are VERY rare shops, maybe one out of two in the country. They sell necklaces with glowing liquid in them. mortals think that they're just pretty, but they're secretly made by Hecate, and the necklace protects and masks your demigod scent for a while. Occasionally, if you have the formula, you can refresh the magical chemical, but most don't, so there are better, but more expensive versions. The more expensive, the longer it protects. When a monster attacks while you have a charged one on, it will be repelled back by a force field, but that too will drain its energy. The most expensive one can last a whole year without any force field activation, and half a year with 5 force field activations. Good luck, and happy shopping! Oh, get a Starbucks while you're at it. Cheers!

Aha! Almost your "First Day" is over!- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (6)

Well, I gave you time off after lunch, as I thought that was enough "food training" for a day, but I'm going to give a list of some easy-peasy chores that you can do quickly before you eat dinner and go to sleep! Okay, I'll give you the list, and then I will explain what to do. So, before dinner, you have to get these done: gather more, and more, and more logs! Yes, I know they are not-so-fun to gather, but they make great, erm, wood, and they also make great things to throw at wild animals whe- if they attack! After you get that done, you can have dinner with the food you saved from earlier today.

I run a demigod organization called the Demipacks Foundation. It helps demigods like YOU cross the Mist territory into the mystical world of the gods, monsters, monsters, and did I mention monsters? Since there are so many monsters in the mystical world, the Demipacks Foundation sends a pack every one or two night or so to all new demigods all over the country! Yes, we have plans to expand to Mexico next, but the US is all we can do for now. In each pack, there will be enough nectar and ambrosia to last you one or two days, if you're hurt, usually about 5 US dollars, and some random stuff here and there. We can't afford to pack celestrial bronze weapons every pack we pack, but we make sure every new demigod gets one, or at least finds one. Demipacks Foundation uses OPS (Mythical version of UPS), and is ran by the generous donations from demigods, gods, and monsters (not really) from all over the world!

If you didn't get a Demigod Pack yet, you should soon. We'll try to get a celestrial bronze weapon to you as soon as possible, but it would be fantastic if you could also sign up for the Demiline Pack for emails and stuff!

After you eat, read my fantastically boring words, etc. etc., I guess I do admit some demigods have to sleep too... so goodnight! Make sure to put lots of wood in your fire, so it doesn't burn out!

Sweet Dreams,
Hoon, Son of Athena

The First Day in the Woods- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (5)

(Guys, I am so, so, so, so, so sorry for not posting, but here I am, I'm back!)

Wakey wakey! Sun's almost up, dawn is approaching! We need to use the daylight to the full advantage! Now, after you eat some trail mix as your simple breakfast, you need to find some healthy food. Yes, I think you should've memorized the food pyramid when the lunch ladies in elementary school shoved the colorful paper in your hand, but of course you didn't, so I'll tell you- an average human being- er, um, even half human beings- You need to consume grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat, and beans. You also need to do physical exercise for 60 minutes most days of the week. Phew, that's a lot of work! First, go down to the stream, and see if the water is clean. If it is, we may be able to catch fish for the meat section and cross that one out. Then, drink some nectar from your water bottle to feel some energy surging through you, and get to work! Your shelter is fine, but you know the slanted logs? Take a few out, and tease the dying fire into flames again with leaves, sticks, whatever you can find. Set some logs, wet from the river, and head out. The moisture on the logs should create enough smoke for you to easily locate your shelter later. Now, we have to go exploring! As you walk, look for some wild fruit trees. Apple trees aren't that strange, and you may find some edible nuts. Also, look for fruit shrubs- like wild strawberries, or blackberries, or perhaps if lucky, blueberries! Look around for edible plants, and maybe in some clear patched, wild rice and grain. After you collect your food, walk back to your shelter. Set it down, and grab a long, thick stick. Grab a sharp rock, or if you brought a pocket knife, use that instead. Shave the top of the stick, into a pointy spear. Perhaps, if you found some long, strong, grass or weed, you can tie some pointy rocks. Then, creep towards the river. When you see a fish, dunk your hand behind the fish, making sure it goes the right way. At the same time, jab at the water with your spear. Fish move fast, don't wait 'till you see it, or it'll be too late! There, you've got yourself a nice fish! Now, set some more logs, and let the fire burn for a while. It's better to cook over charcoal fire, it cooks the fish better. As you wait for the fire to break in the wood, gather up the other foods you gathered, and set some aside for dinner, and for lunch, which is right now. Also, cut the head off the fish, and set it aside. Cut sideways, and make sure to throw away all the scales! Find the intestines, and MAKE SURE TO DIG A HOLE IN THE GROUND AND BURY ALL BLOOD AND INTESTINES THERE, OR IT WILL ATTRACT WILD ANIMALS! OK, I expect the charcoal to be done, so stick the fish on the spear (take out the rocks first!) and hold it not too close to the fire, but not too far that it won't cook. We need to collect the oil that will drip off the fish, so hold the spear slanted, the bottom towards the ground. As oil dribbles down, collect it with a basin or something, we'll need it for many purposes later. Slowly grill the fish. When it's done cooking, cut it in half, one for now, one for later. Bite in!

See ya for dinner,
Hoon Kim, Son of Athena

Embarking on the Journey- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (4)

Now that you've said your goodbyes, blah, blah, packed, and all that, why don't we go over the most important detail of all: finding a forest or the woods. Yes, I know you would think you blend into a mortal crowd at a city, but there's one flaw in that plan: you won't find food. So, scout around. I don't really suggest Google Maps or any other online map right now, I think you're sending enough demigod waves over the internet network, and the monsters probably sensed you well enough already. Find a map, buy a map, whatever, but paper will be great. If your city or town has multiple patches of forests, try to locate on with a lake, stream, or something else. Keep the map, you might need it. Now, the official start of your journey is here! Walk to the forest you have chosen. Go in deep. I know, I do get that feeling sometimes, like someone or something is staring at me, but do not worry, it's the Hunters of Artemis, watching over a new demigod recruit. They always do. Some people say.. they're the haunts of the forests, the bad feeling you get at night, but actually, they protect demigods from monsters. More about the Hunters and other demigod/mortal groups will be fully explained in a future series, but for now, we must make camp.

Find a place of high ground. You should be close to water, but not next to it. The water shouldn't be at a higher ground then you either. It's hard to find a place to camp in the woods, but you will find a spot. You're not allowed to camp too close to water or have it at higher grounds because if it rains, the water could flood and you would be in big trouble- but you have to be fairly close to it in case of a forest fire, and you need to be able to access fresh water without going too far, so you won't get lost. When you find the nicest patch of land, put your backpack hanging from a tree where no animal can grab it, and get to work clearing the land. Sticks, leaves, pine cones, pine needles, anything loose. If you're having a hard time, grab a thick piece of a branch, and tie a lot of those thin-but-strong sticks. Ta-da, you have a makeshift broom! After you clear the land mostly of junk, get to work. The sun will probably set soon, it happens when you're working hard. First of all, get huge, long logs and pile them all up in a huge wall. Then, get some thinner, longer wooden logs, and lean them up neatly in a line diagonally, so you make a sort of lean-to shack. You should've picked some really long logs for the leaning ones, so you can have plenty of space inside. Now, crawl out of one of the holes on the sides, and gather some firewood, some dry grass, and tiny sticks. Also, it would be a good idea to gather some more logs, more thick this time, not as long. Put all the supplies in, and retrieve your pack you put up on the tree earlier. Toss it in, climb in after it, and pile the thick logs on both side holes, so now the wood should surround you all around, but with some air holes in the leaning wood.

With your hands, dig out some dirt out of the ground, making a circle 2 feet in diameter, 5 inches below land level. Pile the shrubs, dry grass, sticks, and paper (if you have any) into a neat pile in the center. Dig through your pack until you find the box of matches. Careful, you need it for the whole trip, and you should only user one. Match one carefully, and light the easy-lighters on fire. Quickly, pile some more sticks on. As the fire grows, feed it more, making sure it doesn't go out. Did you realize, it's dark outside? You have spent the first day of your trip successfully! I know, it would be a good idea for a sleeping bag, but that would've taken too much space, and as long as you feed the fire lots of wood, you should be fine for the night. Every first night of a demigod's trip, your godly parent will usually visit you, dropping off essentials, usually something that goes along these lines:

-Drachmas- they're the official coinage of Olympus and the demigod world!
-Mortal cash- usually US dollars, since you can't use other terms of cash inside the US anyway.
-Lumps of celestrial bronze- the magical metal of demigods. (Usually only if you're Hephaestus)
-A sword, knife, dagger, or bow and arrows. With celestrial bronze, so it can kill monsters.

That's enough of me yapping, isn't it? Just eat some bits of dried fruit or trail mix, or whatever you brought, and relax. Whoop, it's time for you to sleep! Night night, sleep well, just dream about the next day! Tomorrow, we'll be improving the campsite- we'll be staying here for a week or so, or maybe just 3-4 days, but we need to stay here for some days to gather some things that I'll talk about tomorrow.

Escape immediately- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (3)

You have been using technology a lot, lately. Escape. Whether you found your satyr protector or not. I will guarantee within 24 hours, you'll start hearing monsters. Yes, that's right- you'll start hearing them. There is a magical force, or a veil, really, modifying everything Greek mythology from sounds to sight. It's called the Mist. Hecate kids, the sons and daughters of magic, can bend the Mist to their will, and create illusions or even actual things. Yes, when they make force-fields and such, they are illusions. That will be in my upcoming series Demigod Powers and the Mist, coming shortly after this series. (Getting to Camp Half-Blood) Anyway, as you get older and you discover more and more about who you really are, the Mist boundary between the mortal and demigod world will get thinner and thinner. For most demigods, the Mist starts thinning during teen's puberty. For mortals, it may be actual puberty, but for demigods, it's the powers and strength of your godly side showing itself. Getting taller. Bigger. Stronger. More powerful. Your godly side has been pushed back by the Mist, but it is showing itself, and it starts thinning the Mist down. You're becoming "more god-like".

However, some demigods, especially powerful ones, may see this happen before the teenager age. You see, the Mist is sort of like your own personal force field, reining back your godly powers and strength, but as you grow, your godly parent might see fit that you start thinning early, and that's what happens to early bloomers- the ones that are just suddenly so strong and tall. But that is uncommon. The gods usually let their kids thin from 13-18. The Mist force field will be so weak by the time you are 18 that you won't notice any huge growth spurts, but it won't completely disappear until the early 20's. There will be tons more on how the Mist, the Thinning, and others work, and I'll explain it more again, in the Demigod Powers and the Mist series.

Anyway, once you get out of school today, head straight home. No, today is not the day for visiting Starbucks and getting a frappuccino with your friends. Walk, run, bike, ride the bus, whatever takes you the least amount of time to get home. Whatever you do today, if it's early in your school time, don't draw attention to yourself, and WATCH OUT for sudden substitutes. They're usually monsters- targeting innocent demigods. Keep low, even as you ride or walk home. When you get home, tell your mother or father, whichever parent actually stays with you, "I need to leave. Camp. Now." They will understand. The gods do care sometimes, you know. I know, I felt deserted and left alone by Athena at first, but she helped me along the way, lots of times, so I realized, family never gives up on family. Just go straight to your room. Get a portable, small backpack, but one that can load a lot of things at the same time. Here's the regular essentials you need to pack: Extra clothes, thick sweatshirts, two or three flashlights, a pack of batteries, a water bottle that can filter water (if you have one of those), a compass, a book on survival skills (if you have one), a box of matches, and anything else that you might look like it's helpful for a long trip. Now, go into your kitchen. Do you know anything that your mom cooks but never eats it herself, but food that tasted like heaven? It probably has ambrosia, the food of the gods, mixed in it. Yes, mortals can get them, but your mother/father cannot eat it or she will vaporize instantly.

Ask your mother/father for the ingredients to the dish. When you spot something that looks like chunks of bread with glowing honey on it, that makes your mouth water by just looking at it, take as much as you can (all that you have) and stuff it all into a Ziploc bag. Then, open your refrigerator, and look for a drink that looks like one of the things below:
- Orange juice look-alike, but more glowing almost, and when you drink it in the morning, you feel a sudden surge of energy
- Grape juice look-alike, but almost glowing again, when you drink it, you feel a sudden surge of energy

Again, let me guess- your mom or dad never drinks a sip of them, right? Well, they're mixed with nectar, the drink of the gods. What you need to do is get the purifying water bottle, and pour all you can into it. Stuff it into your backpack. Here's an important tip: Even though you're a demigod, you're still not fully a god, so eating more than needed will vaporize you also. Be careful with the dosages. Now, you should pack a bit of food- not too much. Maybe a pack of dried fruits, some trail mix, etc. I will teach how to hunt, gather, and fish for food along the way, so you won't have to worry about food. Don't pack any money. It'll be useless when you finally decide to break your private Mist barrier completely and decide to step out into the mythological world. Some demigods go crazy, and can't tell difference between mortal things and monsters, but I'm prrettty sure you'll be fine.

Now, you're fully ready! Clothing, check. Necessities, check. Godly food, check. Food, check. Now, the departure of your fabulous journey is finally here! You'll be embarking on an exciting journey filled with lots of fresh air, hunting, training, and then, BAM, Camp Half-Blood! It will be filled with lots of amazing stuff, and I bet you're itching for it! I should tell you about it now.... it's soooo, fun and exciting, I'm itching to just tell you about it! No, yes, ahhh, sorry guys!

Until next time,
Hoon Kim, Son of Athena.

School Surroundings- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (2)

Second step: since you know your stirrings, you probably have a good grasp on who your missing parent might be. So, now, go to school. (Yes, I know, I know, but school is the best place to seek satyrs out. SAE-TERS. You'll learn about them) Almost every school down the East Coast has at least one satyr protector. A senior, more trained one if lucky, or maybe like the lot of them, a junior in-training. It doesn't matter. You just have to find them. Look through your friends first. Do they walk funny, with crutches, but can suddenly run really fast? Excused from gym? Stares at you sometimes with a tilted head? Always wearing long pants, never shorts, even in the middle of a really hot school-is-almost-out day? Has a really, really, really, unbelievable good sense of smell? I'm sure you can relate to one of those. If they apply to at least one of them, they're probably a satyr protector.

Satyr protectors are mythical... monsters- creatures, that now work for Camp Half-Blood. I mentioned this term earlier in my post. Camp Half-Blood is the only safe haven for kids like you and I. The Camp's aura itself is so strong it blocks out the smells of over 275 demigods, so no frequent monster attacks. When there is monster attacks, however, it has a magical force-field like border that keeps the bad guys out, so if you just arrive there, you have nothing to worry about, except for the occasional Titan wars, scary Quests, and chances to get beat up by Ares kids. I'm kidding dude, smile, it's good for you!

Anyway, back on topic. Hey, don't blame me, if you were an Athena kid with speed-of-lightning internet, I think you might get carried away too. Whoop, here I go again. Anyway, again, let's get back on topic brain. (Sorry, my ADHD is acting up...) So, when you find who you think the school satyr protector is, approach him. If they sensed at all that you might be a son of a god, they would've approached you first and became friends with you, but with a normal middle/junior high school of 800-1000 kids, they might have not noticed you. So, approach them, and look them squarely in the eye. Then ask this question, they fall for it all the time: "Is your daddy goat still alive?" If they truly are a satyr, they'll stumble, get wide-eyed, anything. If they're just a normal human, they'll just get confused. Find them. Quickly. Now. I will explain everything throughout your trip to Camp Half-Blood and beyond, but they will be a crucial part. They will be your map, your compass to Camp. Even with all my help, you might not make it, but most demigods do make it over the property line/barrier with a satyr's help.

The "Stirrings"- Getting to Camp Half-Blood (1)

This is one of the few secrets I'll reveal to you: I am a demigod. Half Greek-god, half human. Also another one: of Athena, the goddess of wisdom. If you start reading this and you feel what I call the "Stirrings", you must find help immediately. Of course, I go around recruiting people like you who have powerful Stirrings so I can get you guys to safety, but really, I can't teleport whenever you need me to. So listen carefully. You're already in immediate danger. And they're right near you.

Monsters. Remember the Greek myths, the tales of the great heroes like Hercules, of the great Olympian gods like Zeus, and of the vicious monsters like the Minotaur? Well, they roam the country. I expect you to live in the United States, as the US is the glowing coals of Western Civilization these days, but monsters can really, be anywhere, so if you live somewhere else, you might not be that safe either. Anyway, whenever a demigod uses a piece of technology- magic and technology usually equals ka-boom, but whenever they do, you must know- monsters can sniff you aura. Yes, your aura. Anyway, since the Modern Civilization started to combine with Western Civilization, monsters are more linked to modern technology then ever before. they can trace your aura through the very complicated routes of electromagnetic waves of the internet satellites, TV, anything you use. You ought to be careful.

Before you run out of time, I want to tell you what I can about the Stirrings. Do you know the Percy Jackson books? Yes, the one you craze about- by the way, the Blood of Olympus should come out, shouldn't it? Anyway, yes, they are real. Rick Riordan tries to explain things, but he tends to drift off into stories of quests and whatnot, so this website- er, blog, will be your ultimate Demigod Guide to surviving in the world. So far, did you feel something, flurry within you? A passion? Perhaps even hunger, at least? If you felt anything at all, anything, you have a high chance of being a demigod. If you felt a sudden surge of anger or adrenaline, you're probably an Ares kid. Wanted to throw a lightning bolt in my face and electrocute me? Zeus. Wanted to splash me with a bucket of salty water? Poseidon. Did you suddenly seek to kiss my lips and flirt? Aphrodite, undoubtedly? This is another unusual one, but did you suddenly want to hammer a sword? Unusual for that kind of Stirring (actually, no Hammering Stirring has happened in about... 18 years..), but probably Hephaestus, and so on and so forth. There will be many more chapters describing how to live, eat, and manage yourself on your trip to Camp Half-Blood.
